Fine Restaurants

La cantina Can be reached at 864-333-5315. Call for reservations Wednesday through Saturday from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Live classical guitar is played to set the mood. The owner also provides entertainment as a ventriloquist, with various puppets he has created for the main characters.

The food is as unique as the entertainment. They are well known for their marinades and mix of herbs, as well as the special method of cooking. A one of a kind setting with hand carving for bar and wine display, made of the ancient trees which came from his property of 500 acre land grant from the King of England. A real piece of history and charm, while you enjoy a casual and comfortable evening of excellent food and entertainment.

Old Edgefield Grill: Yes, it's half an hour off the beaten path, but the pastoral country road that leads to this South Carolina gem is only the beginning of the sublime experience that awaits its diners. The chef adds understated panache to beef, seafood, chicken and game. Full review

Bambu: From its color-changing indoor waterfall to its herb garden on the wraparound porch, this restaurant features fussed-over international cuisine that is truly out of this world. Full review

D-Timm's: Downtown Augusta is now awash in great eating, and with its jazz-infused ambiance, this lofty eatery tops the list of downtown delights. Full review

Café 209: Also downtown and one of the best values you'll find anywhere, this soul-food restaurant beckons the Southerner in all of us. Full review

Bistro 491: With incredible attention to detail, this Surrey Center jewel offers a truly memorable dining experience. (Try the soup of yesterday.) Full review

T's: One of the city's oldest restaurants, this south Augusta seafood restaurant puts the heart in hearty. The catfish and boatload salad bar are among my favorite offerings.

Aiken Brewing Company: Like Old Edgefield Grill, this one is worth the short drive to a charming neighboring city. Aiken, S.C., was once one of the world's most sought-after winter destinations. This restaurant will help convince you why. Full review
